Grilled Chicken Burger

Grilled Chicken Burger


  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup lettuce leaves
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone work well)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the marinade:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • BBQ sauce


  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Place the chicken breasts in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally, overnight.
  2. Preheat the grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grates with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill the chicken: Remove the chicken breasts from the marinade and shake off any excess. Place them on the preheated grill and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and has nice grill marks. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each chicken breast to melt.
  4. Toast the buns: While the chicken is grilling, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill until they are golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers: Place a grilled chicken breast on the bottom half of each bun. Top with sliced red onion, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce. Add any optional toppings you desire.
