Quick and Easy Butter Chicken


  • 1.5 lbs (about 700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)


  1. In a large pan, heat oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until they become translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Add tomato puree to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken.
  6. Add chicken thighs to the pan, coating them with the sauce. Cook for 8-10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
